When you offer great content targeted directly to your tribe, they will feel cared for and supported by you. It's not so much about how often you write (although you should reach out to them at least twice a month). It's much more about what you write and how important, relevant and customized it is to your target audience.
Also keep mind that they may not be quite ready when you reach out to them. But, when they’re ready (and in our business, you never know when that will be), they’ll be more likely to think of you. Keeping in touch with the people who make up your list is critical. In fact, I consider it the basis of any wellness business, whether you’re locally based or online only.
If you’ve been out of touch for a while, don’t sweat it. Just start the conversation up again, without any apology. No one needs (or wants) to read about why you’ve been out of touch. Just jump back in with a helpful tip or something fun, meaningful and informative.
But where do you get that quality of content? If you want to offer kickin’ content, talk to your tribe and keep the dialog going. Interview them regularly. Everyone loves to be heard. Find out what they want. What words do they use when they describe their deepest yearnings and most pressing challenges? Use those same words and phrases in your content to reach out to them. They will relate to you on a deep level.
Here's a specific tip I often try. Pick up the phone and leave a warm, genuine message for your clients. Express appreciation for their business and ask them for advice on one or two ideas you were mulling over. They’ll be floored by your attention and will happily share their opinion. If you have a large client base, you can do this over email (try SurveyMonkey.com) or simply reach out to your favorite clients.
But, that is certainly not the only road to creating great content. For a wealth of insider secrets, including specific ways to make yourself irresistible and relevant in the way you talk to your tribe, check out my newest book, Rockstars of Wellness.
Here's to your ongoing success and prosperity!
