If you try to ask your email newsletter readers what topics you should write about, a few might be generous enough with their time to write back.
But then again, you have to remember to do this.
If I have to remember to do anything, it usually doesn't get done.
So, the solution is: Automate
When people sign up for my free CD (and ezine) within three days, I set up an email autoresponder to automatically go out to them with something like this...
Subject line of email: Care to share your thoughts?
I wanted to reach out and find out what's going on for you and your wellness business.
What are the top three things you're working on in your private practice?
If you care to share, I'll gear my newsletter, blog and future programs to address those very topics.

A good amount of people write me back and share their thoughts.
I set up a filter (or rule if you use Outlook) in my email inbox to file those emails away into a special folder (also called a "label" if you use Gmail) and when I need something to write about, I open it.
You can even have an assistant create an Excel file with the questions/topics people are asking for you to quickly look through, if you don't want to look through a pile of emails.
This also allows me to see patterns, common challenges and more that my potential clients are facing, and it fuels my programs too.
You can set this up too, and it's way more effective then remembering to ask your ezine readers from time to time.
